Massie Marshmallow

Oh dear, it's been a year since the last Ghost Master Competition. Time sure flies by fast.

Here's my entry for Ghost Master Competition 2012.
Massie Marshmallow the Ghost.

Made that really fast, speed light fast hahahaha the competition ended April 13th 2012 and that Friday morning, ghostgirl (one of Suddenly Sudden creator) asked if I would participate for this year competition. I didn't notice that day was the last day of competition, I had to make something, I had to make it fast.

2 years ago I made some serious illustration, Beverly Adams. Oh dear, I really need to polish my digital illustration expertise hahaha last year I made a funny comic about moments when you really need something and you knew you had it and put it somewhere but you just couldn’t find it. You searched here and there, almost frustrated, and suddenly it was in front of your eyes. I always wonder how did that happened? And I’m sure that other people also had experience like that hahaha that’s the story behind the creation of Clifton and Miss Danielle.

This year, I had to make something else. I was planning to bake some scary cake but it will be time consuming. I looked for inspiration and found marshmallow. Could I make something scary from something cute? First idea was to make another comic but using photos instead of hand drawing. I already had the storyline inside my head. But since I didn’t have colorful marshmallow and too lazy to buy them, I just had to draw again but I made vector illustration so it would be different from last year hand drawing :D

Clifton and Miss Danielle

I was busy making my entry for the Suddenly Ghost Master Competition 2011 until 1 AM yesterday. I was planning to sent my entry before 12 PM but turned out making the comic took a little more time than I expected.

I though I was too late to participate but then the administrator, ghostgirl, reply my email and told me the competition is until 29 may 2011 hahahahaha silly me hahahahaha

When I was reading the term, I though all entries must go to their inbox before 29 April and that's why I leave all my jobs-to-do yesterday and work my ass to finish my entry la la la

Oh well, I had fun :)

Here's my entry for the Suddenly Ghost Master Competition 2011.

Many, many, many terrible mistakes at the comic. Bad grammar and sentences and maybe wrong time line and everything else.

Beverly Adams

Okay, please don't be surprise about this post. It is quite contrary of my usual self. But there's this ghost master competition and I'm interested in joining just because I need a black canvas bag hahaha I know, lame ;p

Here's the thing, when I was a child, I had 2 dolls named Nina&Bobo. Taken from the famous lullaby, Ninabobo. They looked like old-antique-ancients kind of dolls. Dolls that looked like a little kid with blank expression. Long eye lashes and sometimes a pair of eye that can blink. My mum said, I always carried them wherever I go. Even when we were moving from Bandung to Jakarta by train. I was 3 years old back then. She said while she carried my 1 year old brother and some luggage, I was following her through the station platform by pushing Nina&Bobo inside a strolled that supposed to carry me and or my brother.

I love my dolls; Nina&Bobo (and my other stuffed animals). I never been afraid of them since there's a ghost movies about THAT kind of dolls. The famous one is errr... I don't want to mention it, yeah, I think everybody knows what I mean. I hate those kind of movies!!! HATED THEM!!! Since then, I always scared and couldn't sleep well. I had to put them in the crate. Hix... Sorry guys... :(

That's why, I choose old-antique-ancients kind of dolls to create of my kind of ghost. Hopefully, can reduce the fear I have for them.

The name is Beverly Adams. A spoiled little girl in early Victorian era. On her 7th birthday, she got this gorgeous doll from her parents. The doll’s golden brown locks hair shined, her smooth cheeks blushed, her green eyes glazed back at Beverly. Beverly had never seen such a beautiful thing in her whole life. It was love at first sight. She named her Henrietta Maxine Gilmore-Adams. (You have to put your surname to your doll’s last name so she became a part of the family). Soon after, they became unseparated.

Henrietta, or you can call her Ettie, always at Beverly’s side. During her time from having breakfast and study; English, France, history etc but not mathematic (Ettie hates math) to lunch, piano lesson, afternoon tea (especially afternoon tea ooh how they love the scones and fruit cakes), dinner, and the good night sleep.

On one lovely day, her mom presented Beverly with one lovely present. Dusty pink colored dress with roses printed, laces, and bows. After she put it on, mom presented Beverly with another lovely surprise. A smaller dress for Ettie! It has the same material, completed with a matched hat. She was over joy!

That night, Beverly slept with that lovely matching dress. Ettie too. But something strange happened. Beverly couldn’t breathe. It was hot. So hot! She opened her eyes and she was surrounded by fire. Her room was on fire. Her house was burning. She called mom and dad. Anybody. No one yelled back. She was scared. So scared!

She grabbed Ettie and slowly walked out of her room, through the hallway, to the stairs. Just a little bit further. She heard loud cracked sound. Next thing she knew, she was flying straight to a burning floor. She can saw her body lying on the floor. Blood flowed from her neck. She can saw Ettie. Ettie, her gorgeous doll. A pair of green eyes glazed back at her, “Ettie, help... Help me, Ettie…”.

Beverly Adams burned head and body was buried at the Park Cemetery. Along with her doll. And that’s the story of the beloved daughter (and doll) of Adams Family, Beverly Adams. Wait the minute… The Adams never had a kid named Beverly. Supposed to be someone else… Someone whose name starts with H.

I really put a lot of effort in this illustration. Have fun with lots of details. I even scanned my shirt to get the roses pattern and used this brushes for the wallpaper. I'm happy with the result though :) Hope I can win the prize hihihi

The 1st Li-El Series

My first children storybook is finally being published yaaaaayyy!!! \(^o^)/

Li-El is a very active little girl. Like all little girls, she loves to play and have fun with all of her friends. Although her curiosity sometime lead her to trouble. But worry not, her funky mother always be at her side and share some weird wisdom. All well, ends well :)

Here's some sneak peek...

Too bad it's B&W due to the publisher policy but still, I'm sooooo haaaaappppyyyyyyy ^^
It was almost 4 years when me and Ied, the creator/writer, day-dreaming about this hahahaha it came true, Ied, it came trueeee yaaaaayyy!!!

Can't wait for my next cute project, Shari and Little Lily! ;)

Cute Purple Giant

Goodness!!!
It's so HOT in Jakarta lately. And like always, I refuse to use AC hahaha me and my stupid principals. I don't want my body to rely on AC all the time, too much global warming ;p so I push myself to get used to the climate and here I am, sweating like a pig hahahaha

Anyway, I just remember about my last month illustration, The Legend of SangHyang Tikoro. About a ugly giant that having a battle with some handsome dude to win the love of this beautiful girl. Handsome dude won, the ugly giant couldn't handle his lost and created a heavy rain storm on those lovely couple's village. The ugly giant's dad who discovered about his son cowardness, punished him to drink all the flood from the rain. Until now, you still can see the ugly giant swallowing all those water at SangHyang Tikoro Cave at Bandung, West Java. Of course, it's not a real giant, it's just a river that ended in some cave, duh.

The giant looks cute right? I know, I can't draw scary giant!!! I almost frustrated that time. At first, the face expression looked promising but then I don't know why my hand automatically made him chubby. Cute and chubby. *banging my heads on the desk* FAILED!!!

She's not that pretty nor that smart. She's so skinny, has a dark skin and also freckles from spending time too much under the sun. But she's a true princess because she always care about her people :)
